Summer Family Fun Calendar | June

Summer is almost here and I am planning on keeping the kiddos busy during the [long] weeks and days of summer.  In the past I’ve had a “summer fun bucket” that they could choose from.  This year I have decided to try something new and assign themes to each week and plan something accordingly.  It may be a day trip or a fun project or a chance to learn something new.  This months themes are Park week, Earth week and Sports week.  Check back to see our plans in July and August, and whatever you choose it is sure to be a good time.

  • Micke Grove Park in Lodi has a lot to offer.  There is a Zoo, Lake, Japanese Garden, Museum and FunTown (9)
  • One Mile Park in Chico (also known as Sycamore Pool or Lower Bidwell Park)  Pool closed on Thurs (11)
  • Geocaching is a high tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world (12)
  • ReCreate in Roseville.  Create art with recycled items.  Summer camps also available (14)
  • Be sure to check tide calendar for low tide times before visiting (15)
  • Cook using the sun and a pizza box (16)
  • Color and learn about endangered animals in our oceans, Rainforest and North America (17)
  • Support our planet and adopt an endangered animal…maybe a whale? (17)
  • Make a geode using an egg and salt (18)
  • Go fishing at Big M Fishery in Lincoln (22)
  • Plant veggies like carrots and potatos in a recycled glass jar and watch them grow underground (23)
  • Discover a simple way to take a photograph without a camera by using sunlight and light sensitive paper (24)
  • Create an erupting volcano (25)
  • Strikes Bowling in Rocklin and Elk Grove.  Weekday bowling 9-5 $2/person plus $2 shoe rental or check out http://www.kidsbowlfree.com/for bowling in your area (28)
  • RiverCats day game (29)

Use these ideas or use it as a template to come up with your own Family Fun Calendar.  Have fun and maybe we will see you there!
